Drichtel

Drichtel EP is the cumulation of Axel Helios' work of the same name, which was presented at Société des Arts Technologiques in Montreal as part of an artistic residency. Originally a real-time 360 degrees audiovisual show, this EP focuses on bringing the energy of the original experience in sonic form. Inspired by concepts of H. P. Lovecraft's literature, Drichtel explore non-euclidean geometry, destroyed underwater cities, and a feeling of dread for the unknown in its music as they accompanied visuals in the same themes. This EP conveys the wideness of a 32 speakers dome experience and mixes it down into a more common format.

Separated in 4 different acts, Drichtel starts with The Rapture, an introduction conveying the anxiety of slowly sinking into the depths of the ocean. The Cult follows with a 9 minutes exploration of a fallen society, swept by the waters of time and still inhabited by the faces of its civilization. The track suddenly takes a turn into dissonant melodies as the spectator slowly descends into the madness and chaos of the fallen city. The Fall takes off on this descent into madness and flips it around into a more soothing of the chaos. And finally, The Abyss presents itself as the culmination of the experience as the madness passes through and it tries to quickly go back to the surface at high speeds.
